The circle remains unbroken for Australian rock royalties, Midnight Oil, as they are set to embark on their first world tour in over 20 years.
The mammoth Great Circle Tour will loop clockwise around the country this October to November, kicking off in Alice Springs before making its way to Darwin, Kuranda, Townsville, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane where the band will play two consecutive performances. The tour then will then stop by in Coffs Harbour, Hunter Valley, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart, Wodonga, Mount Macedon and Melbourne. After playing three shows in Melbourne, the band will head down to Wollongong before playing the final two shows in Sydney.
Alongside the tour announcement was the revelation about their plans to release three archival box sets including a collection called “The Overflow Tank” which will contain over 14 hours of previously unreleased and rare material.
The band will be supported by an equally talented pool of artists including Dan Sultan, Apakatjah, Irrunytju Band, Urthboy, The Living End, Jebediah, The Jezabels, Jack River, Birds of Tokyo, Ash Grunwald, Something For Kate, Spiderbait, Bad//Dreems, John Butler Trio, Frank Yamma, David Bridie, Adalita, Abbe May and A.B.Original.
