Off the back of the release of their long awaited third album, Simple Forms, New Zealand-born LA-based electro pop band, The Naked and Famous, will be returning in January 2017, headlining shows in Sydney and Melbourne.
The five-piece first broke into the scene in 2010 with their hits "Young Blood” and "Punching in a Dream" - both Triple J Hottest 100 singles – culled from their debut album, Passive Me, Aggressive You. Their latest single “Higher”, which is currently on high rotation on triple j, proves the band's ability to pull euphoric electronic pop from the shadows.
Being '90's kids, The Naked and Famous' music is characterised by the era’s golden age of alternative-rock. Their sound is fully loaded electro rock, sharing a lineage to the synth-heavy bands of their peers, MGMT and Passion Pit. Their latest album, Simple Forms, still features the razor synths with soaring vocals and continues to showcase their finely polished, self-produced sound.
“My production idea in The Naked and Famous has always been to set the insularity of our songwriting in a space where intimacy and explosive excitement can bring tension and release… To me, that is what contemporary pop should be. Our ambition is that this music be noticed and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved in the studio.” Tom Powers - guitarist/vocalist/producer
“The band are so polished while retaining a certain charm and charisma that only come from a true love of performing.” - AU Review, 2014
Don’t miss The Naked and Famous, in what will be nights of intense performances.
