Paul Dempsey unveils his new single 'Morningless' - from his forthcoming sophomore LP, produced by Tom Schick (Wilco, Ryan Adams) and slated for release later in the year. This new track arrives seven years after the Something for Kate frontman's acclaimed solo album debut, 2009's top five, gold accredited ARIA charts success Everything Is True.
Fans will get their first introduction to tracks from the forthcoming solo album as Paul plays three very special, limited capacity shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in support of 'Morningless'. His newly formed live band features musicians Pat Bourke, Olympia, Shannon Vanderwertt and Adrian Stoyles.
Says Dempsey of the song, "There's a desperation in this song that stems from the feeling of being far away from someone and urgently racing to get back to them, almost in defiance of the motion of the planet and the passing of day and night..".
The video for 'Morningless', directed by Alex Badham (Oh Mercy, Worlds End Press, Ocean party) animates the combustible brevity of the track.
Most musicians would be content with being involved in a single much-loved project, especially one as constantly rewarded as Something for Kate (double figures for ARIA Awards nominations, winners of Triple J's Album of the Year, multiple top ten albums), but 'Morningless' is confirmation that Dempsey will alternate between the beautifully rigorous noise he makes with SFK's Stephanie Ashworth and Clint Hyndman and his own diverse solo career.
Dempsey will be joined in support by Australian songwriter Fraser Gorman.
