A pair of Australian acts made big by reality television are sitting on top of the ARIA Charts, while the one and only Pink continues her run at radio.
TMN HOT 100 AIRPLAY CHARTPink is #1 again with Blow Me (One Last Kiss). Three weeks at #1 is an exceptional feat for an artist. For Pink herself, however, she might not be impressed unless she cracks eight weeks at #1 (yes, two months as the most heard song in the country) and beats her seven week stint at #1 with Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely), which interestingly ended 250 issues ago exactly.
#2 this week has been claimed by Karmin’s Brokenhearted, which has spent 13 weeks creeping up the chart from #69, where it entered. The track has spent five weeks inside the Top 10, while Rudimental’s Feel the Love spends at third week at #3 (something that happened last when B.o.B did the same thing with Nothing On You featuring Bruno Mars, culminating exactly 100 issues ago - yep).
Maroon 5’s One More Night has advanced further from their #5 position last week, hitting #4 three weeks since their last #1 fell. The highest debut for the week came from The Script and will.i.am in the form of Hall Of Fame, which entered inside the Top 40 at #37, who we welcome back after roughly half a year outside of the Hot 100.
ARIA TOP 50 SINGLES CHARTJustice Crew, made famous by Australia's Got Talent, have chalked up their first ever week at #1 on the ARIA Singles chart. The certified hit (penned by Jay Sean for the Aussie lads) Boom Boom, also ticked over from Gold to Platinum certification during the climb from #2. The group's last two singles, And Then We Dance and Friday To Sunday sold Platinum and double-Platinum respectively, so Boom Boom could be around for a while! For those playing along at home, this win for Justice Crew also marks the fifth time in ARIA Chart history that a song with "Boom" in the title has hit #1 on the Singles chart.
Watch out Justice Crew, Maroon 5 are on your tail. One More Night is sitting in the same #2 position, with the same Gold certification and the four weeks inside the ARIA Singles Top 50 that Boom Boom enjoyed only last week. Can Maroon 5 muster their second ever ARIA Single #1, or will One More Night suffer the same terrible fate (read: unlucky timing) as Move Like Jagger, which went #1 at radio without trouble, but sat #2 on the ARIA Singles chart for ten weeks, behind the unstoppable Gotye.
The highest new addition for the week came from Calvin Harris and Example, with their soon-to-be anthem, We'll Be Coming Back. The track slipped in just outside the Top 10, at #11, one position above the rapidly rising Drunk, by Ed Sheeran, which darted up the chart from #37 to #12. A little lower down the chart at #37 entered Lolita, the latest from The Veronicas. The single was bested by fellow Warner act 3OH!3's return to the ARIA Singles chart, You're Gonna Love This, which entered at #32.
ARIA TOP 50 ALBUMS CHARTAnother week at #1 for Karise Eden's My Journey. With six weeks at #1, My Journey is the longest running #1 from an Australian since Missy Higgins' The Sound Of White accumulated seven non-consecutive weeks in the top spot back in 2005. Before that, Delta Goodrem's Innocent Eyes managed to do it twice in 2003 with her fifteen times Platinum (yep, over a million sales) debut, Innocent Eyes.
While #1 remains solid like a rock, every other position inside the top five sees a new face this week. Fun.'s Some Nights has scurried up from #5 to #2, while Ed Sheeran's + has (Usain) bolted to #3, up ten positions from #13. Maroon 5's Overexposed has moved from #9 to #4 and Missy Higgins' Gold certified The Ol' Razzle Dazzle has re-entered the Top 5, moving up one position.
The highest debut on this side of the charts came from Plan B, who saw Ill Manors debut at #9, outdoing 2010's The Defamation Of Strickland Banks, which peaked at #25. The soundtrack for The Sapphires debuted at #17, above J-Lo's Dance Again… The Hits which rounded out the Top 20. Below, Elton John vs Pnau's Good Morning To The Night, Rick Ross' God Forgives And I Don't and Joss Stone's The Soul Sessions Vol II debuted at #40, #41 and #42 respectively.
