Tarantino meets Soderbergh in an urban jungle
By Jason Geary (Melbourne)
Set in the fictional urban jungle of Fat City, a close-knit group of characters follow their own moral compass - no good, no bad, just what they need, when it is needed.
In the spirit of crime genre, people are trying to hustle to make a buck, fall in love, keep their people and community safe. Small time crooks, community leaders, care givers, police; corrupt or otherwise. Tension, drama and comedy all reside within the suffocating surrounds of Fat City.
A recognise master of improvised narrative and character, Jason Geary (see him Thank God You’re Here) is the only externally director to be asked to repeat a show title at this Festival, and with good reason. Fat City will keep you in its grip time and time again.
In this character-driven modern noir, performers are relentlessly drawn to moments that matter. The show is a slice of life in Fat City - stories of chance in a city that doesn't stand any.
Part of the Canberra International Improv Festival.
