Community radio in Australia now reaches nearly 6,000,000 listeners each week. That’s a fair chunk of the nation regularly tuning in to hear grassroots culture in action, and Australian music is a big part of that.
To celebrate the amazing work community radio does nationwide through more than 400 stations, Brisbane’s 4ZZZ with the CBAA’s Amrap (Australian Music Radio Airplay Project) will present Sounds Like Community Radio—a live broadcast featuring some of the most exciting artists working in Australian music today, hosted by the people who bring them to your ears each week.
You'll hear live to air sets from The Goon Sax, Tralala blip, Laura Imbruglia, Huntly, Emily Wurramara, McKisko, Gordon Koang and Drmngnow. The Goon Sax will cap off a stellar day of Australian sounds with their set coming from the 4ZZZ Carpark!
We’re inviting anyone and everyone to take a tour of 4ZZZ, talk to community radio Music Directors from Triple R—3RRR 102.7FM, 2serfm, SYN, PBS 106.7FM Melbourne, Edge Radio 99.3FM and 4ZZZ and hang out with us listening to the live to air performances.
It’s also a great opportunity for any Australian musician to learn about Amrap, a free service that connects artists with broadcasters keen to play their music. Come and have a drink and a bite on us!
But of course, Sounds Like Community Radio is about the power of radio—so tune in wherever you are! The event will be live on 4ZZZ 102.1fm and streaming on the 4ZZZ website.
Presented by 4ZZZ and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.
