‘Daoirí Farrell is single-handedly spearheading a resurgence of the authentic in Irish folk music…he is rightly in demand all over the world.’ - Irish Music
Dublin-born singer and bouzouki player, Daoirí Farrell (pronounced 'Derry') Farrell is described by some of the biggest names in Irish folk music as one of the most important singers to come out of Ireland in recent years. Since launching his own solo live career at the 2016 Celtic Connections, Daoirí has gone from strength to strength.
Six months after releasing the album 'True Born Irishman' Daoirí won two prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2017 for Best Newcomer and Best Traditional Track and performed live at the awards ceremony at London's Royal Albert Hall. Since then he has toured the UK, and played at festivals in Australia, Canada, the UK, Belgium, Denmark and more.
He has received endorsements from the likes of Christy Moore ("Daoirí has assumed the mantle of Luke Kelly"), and Dónal Lunny ("Daoirí is one of the most important traditional singers to emerge in the last decade"), with his music and live performances earning the acclaim of respected publications including MOJO, The Irish Post, Songlines and more.
He embarks on his second Oz tour, having just released his fourth solo album in February 2023, ‘The Wedding Above In Glencree’, recorded with Trevor Hutchinson (Lúnasa/The Waterboys). Australian audiences will have the opportunity to hear this new material live when he tours in June.
Daoiri Farrell's Australian tour takes in the East Coast with a quick stopover in WA and is a must-see show for lovers of Irish traditional music, delivered with passion, humour, and a voice as clear as a bell.
