From age-old ghost stories to chilling tales from the spirit realm, the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) presents a free classics program featuring spine-tingling horror. Titled Grief and Vengeance: Otherworldly Tales in Sydney, with abridged versions in Melbourne and Canberra, the program features landmark films from Japanese horror pioneer Nobuo Nakagawa, alongside contemporaries Masaki Kobayashi and Satsuo Yamamoto.
2019 Japanese Film Festival Classics films include:
- The Bride from Hades
- Jigoku (Hell)
- Kwaidan
- The Living Koheiji
- The Adventures of Tobisuke
- Black Cat Mansion
- The Ghost Story of Yotsuya
Free admission. Tickets available outside the Domain Theatre from one hour before each screening. A small allocation of early-bird tickets can be booked in advance from QTIX (pre-bookings available from 23 September, 10am). Under 15s must be accompanied by an adult.
